ABSTRACT
Objective: To describe the Clinical Presentation and local steroid injection out come in patients of moderate carpal
Tunnel Syndrome.
Study Design: Case series observational study.
Methodology: We Studied the predominant sufferer, the female patients with the signs and Symptoms of moderate
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). Patients having history and positive clinical examination of CTS were tested with nerve
conduction studies for confirmation.Global Symptom Score’ (GSS) a famous , easy and standard questionnaire, for
symptoms ‘was used for initial assessment as well as for outcome measurement. It values symptoms on a scale from 0
to 50, where ‘0’ indicates no symptoms and ‘50’ indicates the most severe symptoms. All these patients were followed
after injection, at 3 weeks time period. Data were analyzed with SPSS 10.
Result: The study contained 15 females. Average age was 44.11 years+ 9.76SD with range in 18-58 years. Effectiveness
of steroid injection was in 14 (96.2%)patients showing GSS of 0, and no improvement in 1(3.84%) showing GSS of 30.
Conclusion: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is predominantly the disease of middle-aged female.The moderate types has
a good response to steroid injection
