THE EFFECT OF EXERCISE ON TESTOSTERONE IN A STUDY GROUP OF YOUNG MALE ADULTS OF PESHAWAR
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Objective: This study was designed to see the effects of exercise on serun testosterone concentrations in a group of
male adults of Peshawar.
Materials and Methods: In this comparative study 155 subjects were categorized into three categories. The category
0 (n=18) subjects were not doing any regular exercise; those in category 1 (n=107) were in habit of walking but were
not usual sportsmen; and the subjects in category 2 (n=30) were usual sportsmen.
Results: There was a significant difference (P=0.04) when the T levels of the subjects in category 1 and 2 were compared
using student t-test; while the other two groups showed no significant difference, indicating that walking increases the
T value while regular athletic games decrease it up to the level of non-exercised subjects.
Conclusion: One should not train for more than 45 to 60 minutes in a single session. If one wants to exercise or train
more, split sessions are recommended.
