Abstract

Objective: To determine the efficacy of low dose aspirin in prevention of hypertensive disorder in pregnant women.

Methods; This Descriptive Study was conducted in Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar from 1st October 2019 to 30th March 2020. A total of 177 pregnant women having high risk for hypertensive disorder were included in the study. All patients were prescribed aspirin 75 mg once daily till 37 weeks of gestational age. Efficacy as per operational definition was noted.

Results: Age range in this study was from 18 to 35 years with mean age of 29.559±2.54 years, mean gestational age 13.355±1.39 weeks, mean weight 73.113±13.30 Kg, mean height 73.113±13.30 meters and mean BMI was 29.609±4.89 Kg/m2. Efficacy was seen in 74% patients.

Conclusion: This study has concluded that low-dose aspirin can prevent preeclampsia and early-preeclampsia.
